Macadamia Natural Oil – Review

Hi.

I thought I’d finally do the review on the Macadamia Natural Oil Products I bought. I already have a First Impression Post on these but now I’ve used them for about 2 months and can do a more wxtended review.

I’ll start with mentioning that I’ve gotten pretty many comments on how nice my hair is, among those comments are “God damnit woman what’s going on with your hair? Smoooooth!” From a friend.

The products I will review now is; Rejuvenating Schampoo, Moisturizing Rinse, Deep Repair Masque, Healin Oil Spray, Healing Oil Treatment, Nourishing Leave In Cream, Reviving Curl Cream and No Tangle Spray.

My usual routine consists of;
In Shower
Rejuvenating Shampoo2 times
Deep Repair MasqueOnce a week
Moisturizing Rinse
After Shower
Nourishing Leave In
Healing Oil Treatment
Touch Ups
Healing Oil Spray

The Reviving Curl Cream I use sometimes when I feel like accentuate my small waves. The No Tangle Spray I rarely use.

But now To the actuall review.’

Rejuvenating Shampoo

The Rejuvenating Shampoo is a color safe shampoo that’s free of sulfates and parabens. The texture is like almost every other shampoo, lite a runny gel formula. but not to runny. I always wash twice with this one, once to  remove the outer layer of dirt and one more time to reach and care for the hair. It almost doesn’t lather at all the first time. Sulfate Free shampoos usually don’t lather as much as sulfate shampoos but the secomd time it lathers nice. I don’t use much product at all. But the amount that needs to be used depends on how dirty and long the hair is, how frizzy it is can count in to.

I think that it works really good. The first few times I used this my hair felt really coarse afterwards and I needed the conditioner to even be able to comb through it. I think however that this was just as the hair got used to a sulfate free Schampoo since it’s much better now. I think that the best way to describe the scent of this shampoo is fruity, my first thought is always honeydew.
Since this is a Sulfate Free shampoo some silicones can be hard to wash out with this only, so you can experienca a silicone build up. This isn’t something that I myself have noticed. But I use a anti dundruff shampoo sometimes that probably takes care of that for me. But even when I haven’t used that for a while I haven’t noticed anything.

The easiest way to use this is to take a really small amount in the hands and rub the palms together then apply it to the hair. Then add a little more and rinse out, then just wash again.

Pros
Color Safe
Sulfate Free
Paraben Free
Smells Delicious
Cleans well without stripping your hair.

Cons
Can make your har feel corse the first few uses.
Can leave some silicons in your hair.

Moisturizing Rinse

This is the conditioner. Just like the shampoo it’s color safe and free of sulfates and parabens. The texture is creamy and pretty firm. The scent on this is harder to explain, but it still smells good. The shampoo smells better according to me.
As a conditioner this works great. As with the shampoo I think a small amount is enough.

I comb through my hair with my fingers or a loose toothet comb before application. I take a small amount in the hand, rub my palms together and combs it through the hair. Then I let it for maybe two minutes before coming through the hair and rinsing it out.

Pros
Makes the hair soft and smooth.
Doesn’t weight the hair down.
Smells good.
Pretty easy to rinse out

Cons
I don’t really have any cons on this conditioner.

Deep Repair Masque

The Deep rapair masque must be the product that smells the absolute best. The texture is a really firm cream and just like the other products, you don’t need much. I use this once a week and it just leaves the hair so soft and smooth. I seriously can’t stop touching my hair. The instruction says to leave this in for 7 minutes. I leave it for as long as i feel like, usually during the time I scrub and wash my body and shaves my legs. If I bathe I wash my hair and put this in before. so then it might be 15-60 minutes depending on the lenght of the bath.

I apply this just like the conditioner. Small amount on the hands, rub the palms together and comb it through.

Pros
Works wonders
Smells wonderful.
Leaves the hair smelling awesome.

Cons
Non at all

Healing Spray Oil
and Healing Oil Treatment.

Since these are basically the same product I’ll review these together. The Spray Oil is a little lighter than the Pump Oil but the functions are about the same. These smell good to, a little more spicy than sweet. I like these oils. They are easily absorbed and don’t leave a greasy residue on the hair if you don’t use to much.  I usully use the Healing Oil Treatment on wet hair and The Healing spray Oil on dry hair as an extra boost if needed and after styling. After I apply the Healing oil treatment though I always need to wash my hands to get the oil of my hands. Not really a problem, but can be if you have dry hands or are in a hurry.

I apply the Pump Oil just like the conditioner and Masque. The spray oil I usually spray directly on the hair and combs through with a boar bristle brush.

Pros
Leaves hair smelling good
Leaves hair smooth and soft
Leaves hair shiny
Easily absorbed

Cons
Can leave the hair greasy if you use to much.
Needs soap to wash of hands

Nourishing Leave-In Cream

Now we’re back to the sweet smells. This has a cream texture and as the other products. A little goes a long way. you need about a pea-sized amount every time. It applies easily and don’t leave a residue. If you use to much it will leave a residue, but thats obvious.
I usually use this with the Healing Oil Treatment, but I’ve used them both seperatly and like it either way. I think this cream is the reason my hair keeps so straight.

I apply it like the oil, and usually I apply this before the oil. Don’t know why, I just prefer it that way.

Pros
Smells great.
Leaves the hair smooth.

Cons
It’s pretty easy to take to much.

Reviving Curl Cream

I havent used this one a lot. Only a few times. But the times I used it I liked it. I actually have it in my hair now It smells wonderful and the texture is creamy. Again you only need about the size of a pea and if you take to much of this your curls can get a bit stiff. When I use this I use it on wet hair with the Healing Oil Treatment or alone and I spray on the Healing Spray Oil after my hair dries.
I get small and messy hair by this, sort of a messy bed head/seducing hair.

I apply this like the Nourishing Leave-In and after I applied it i either just squeeze my hair into curls or I put it up in a really messy bun with hairpins. And if needed I pull my fingers through the hair. Never a comb or brush.

Pros
Gives a curl boost that’s nice.
Gives soft smooth curls
Smells good

Cons
Can make curls stiff

No Tangle Pre-tyler

This is the product I’ve used the less. I don’t need it on my self. I tried this on my younger brother with the No tangle brush though. And he was able to keep playing his video game while I combed through the dread like mess on the back of his head. Wheather that was this, the brush or the combination I don’t know.  This has a cream like texture which in combination with the spray bottle just seems weird. I have however not had any problems spraying with it. I think this one is kind of unnecessary in use with the other products.
I feel it’s to early for a Pro and Con on this one though.

Well so overall I can say that I love this product range. Right now I don’t want to use anything else. I’m completely sold.
I would and will absolutely repurchase this. Next time I’ll order the big packages. Both me and my hair loves these product range.

I’m dying to try out Flawless to since I feel that that would be wonderful to have in my gym-bag and if I’m in a real hurry. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be able to afford it in a while given christmas and that I’m running out of the other products. I also need new eyeshadows. But I hope I’ll be able to try it as soon as possible.

Ciao

Macadamia Natural Oil First Impression

As I said in the post Macadamia Natural Oil I was going to give you a first impression post on the product. So here it comes.

Since my hair isn’t that frizzy, my ends aren’t in bad shape and my hair is neither on the dry or the oily side I brought in outside help. From Jesus, oh sorry, I meant Jonas, my fiancé. His hair is frizzy, pretty dry and with insanely split ends.
Here are some photos.

Now I happen to love the small curls in his hair. I tend to play with them while watching movies os such.
On these pictures his hair isn’t brushed, that’s because if we pull my boar bristle brush through his hair at this point we’d have about 3-4 cm of dry fluff at the ends.

We used the same routine on our hair so the product reviews are my opinions while the pictures show what it did to his hair.

The products used are these.

Macadamia Rejuvenating Schampoo
Macadamia Deep Repair Masque
Macadamia Moisturizing Rinse
Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment
Macadamia Nourishing Leave In Cream

We started with the Rejuvenating Schampoo 2 times to get a nice lather, then the Deep Repair Masque was added together with some of the Healing Oil Treatment for extra care. The masque was left in the hair for 10 minutes and then thoroughly rinsed out before the conditioner was added and then rinsed out. Sadly I forgot to ask Jonas to rinse the conditioner out with cold water.

Then we waited for the hair to dry until it was damp before we added Nourishing Leave In Cream and Healing Oil Treatment, and then left to dry completely. After the hair was dry we brushed through it, and here are the results on Jonas’ hair.

It’s much less frizzy and it didn’t feel as dry. To my dissapointment his curls were straighter than I’d like, (and I have absolutely no hope of getting to try the Macadamia Curl Cream on him) but the quality and looks of the hair was much better than before. The split ends are still there, but the only way to get rid of split ends is to cut the hair, so that was expected.
Now we’ll move on to the first impression review.

***

Overall my first impression of these products is really good. I’m going to start with some overall pros and cons.

Pros

The Smell – All of these products smell absolutely wonderful, some might say that the scent is a bit to girly, for example when my fiancé added the masque to his hair he exclaimed “now the girly smells begin“. I however think that men can use girly hairproducs. Usually there aren’t that many hair care products for men that acctually are good. To get the products that do work for hair the men has to step out of their comfort zone of using axe shower gel as a schampoo to get that manly smell.

The packaging – I think that these green and brown packaging with the lighter brown pattern is simply beautiful

UV Protection – The Moisturizin Rinse, Healing Oil Treatment, Healing Spray Oil, Nourishing Leave In Cream and Reviving Curl Cream contains UV-Protection which I found great.

Color safe – The Rejuvenating Schampoo and Moisturizing rinse is color safe. Having colored my hair for at least 8 years this is great for me.

Cons

Heat Protection – I cant find anywhere if the Healing Oil Treatment, Healing Spray Oil, Nourishing Leave In Cream or Reviving Curl Cream Contains Heat Protection. So I’m going to assume that they don’t. I don’t use heat styling tools or a hair dryer that often. But this is still a huge con for me. But It’s also the only con I have right now.

Macadamia Rejuvenating Schampoo
Since this schampo is sulfate free I thought it would be hard to get a lather from it since sulfates usually are the reson behind lather in schampoos. But it was really quite easy to get a satisfactory lather. I felt it cleansed my hair well but I did need to wash my hair two times, however, I always do that. I think that the easiest way to aplly this shampoo is to first take a small amount for the scalp and then take a small amount for the lenghts. It feels like i have to use less product when I do it that way and I didn’t need much product at all, my hair did however feel a little coarse after using this schampoo, so for me a conditioning agent is required. I always condition after schamopoing anyway, so not really a problem

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque
I am completely sold on this one after just one use, the moment thiss masque touched my hair I felt it smoothen and when i rinsed it out my hair just washed around my face and over my shoulders like a soft silky curtain of smoothness.  And a little goes a long way, i didn’t need much of this mask to cover all my hair.

Macadamia Mousturizing Rinse
After using the Deep Repair Masque a conditioner wasn’t really necessary but since it helps close the hair I always use it. I have however washed twice with these products so I’ve used the conditioner without the masque to. It’s good as a conditioner, can’t say much more right now. If you apply it right you dont need much of this either, which is good because it was a living hell to get this out of the bottle. I ended up screwing the cap of.

Macadamia Nourishing Leave In Creamand Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment
Since I have only used these with each other I can’t really give a opinion on how they are separetly. But I can say what I think of the together.
I have used these twice on myself, the first time I took too much product and my hair turned out a little oily (This is the reason I’ve washed my hair twice before this review). The second time however I took a good amount. I started with a little of the Nourishing Leave In Cream and worked that through the hair with my fingers and then I combed through with the Macadamia Oil Infused Comb to distribute the product. After I’d done that I took a little of the Healing Oil Treatment and did the same thing with that. The oil feels pretty thick and I was surprised at how easy it was to work it into the hair. A huge con on the oils bottle is the pump, as you can see on the picture earlier in this post the pump is pretty high above the bottle when it’s opened. This isn’t a problem right now, but if I want to bring it with me somewhere I’m going to have to pump out some of the oil to be able to twist this shut. I prefer the pumt bottles where the pump stays in one place and snaps shut in one direction and open in the other, so you don’t have to pump out a amount of product to shut the bottle(i.e. The Body Shops Hand Wash bottles ). Those kind of pumps can easily open by themself though, but I still prefer them.

Well I think that was all I had to say about these now.
More posts will be up about these.
