Nivea in-shower body lotion

image

I got the nivea in-shower body lotion today.
I think the idea of this is great so I’ve wanted to try it for a while. There are two different lotions, I got the one for normal skin, there’s also one for dry skin.

You use it after your shower gel and then rinse it off, if you’re in a hurry this is great since you don’t have to wait for a lotion to sink in before going on with your day.

I’ve used it once, but my skin feels smoother than it usually is right after a shower. I’ll keep using it and post a bigger review.
I already feel that now in the winter this is not enough to properly moisture my skin, but I’ll combine this with moisturising a few evenings.

First impression – Camomile silky cleansing oil

I thought I’d write a first impression review on the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil.

image

I like the looks of the packaging, but the pump is a little unpractical, I’d rather have it in a bottle similar to the other oils. I feel the pump gives way to much product. The scent is pleasant.

image

The oil itself is slightly yellow in colour and the texture is oily (duh). It glides on smooth.
You’re supposed to massage the oil on dry skin and then add water. I added water to the oil left in my hand.

image

Slightly ‘foamy’.
When I wipe it of from my face the skin isn’t oily, so the water dissolves the oil pretty good.

I did notice that my skin felt slightly dry after this first use, but that’s pretty common with new products.

Over all I’m happy with the first use of this, I’ll write a larger review when I’ve tried it more.

Highlighter and bronzer

I bought a highlighter and a bronzer the other day. Thought I’d show them here.

image

They’re both from The Body Shop.

Small amounts on the back of ny hand.

Smeared out.

I like these, the bronzer works great for shading. The highlighter is actually the furst highlighter I’ve ever hade, but I’ve liked it the det times I tried it.
I’ll try them more before writing a larger review.

First impression: Vitimin E Sink In Moisture Mask

In my last post I mentioned some things I got/bought for my birthday.
I’ve tried some of them and here is a firts impression of the Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask from The Body Shop

vitamin e mask
P
icture from The Body Shop’s Homepage

The description says to Put on a thin layer, leave on for about 10 minutes and then just wipe of the excess. So when I tried this, that’s what I did, except I left it on for about 20 minutes.

My first thought instantly was “wow, my skin is really smooth now”. Before using this I had some dry and even some flaky parts on my face, but after only one use those were gone, even now  4 days later they haven’t returned. So I’ll definetly use this more to see if it works in the long run. I’m also thinking of using it as an overnight mask, putting it on in the evening and then sleeping on my back with this on. Since it is a sink in mask I don’t really believe you can leave it on for too long.

I did notice that while it sunk in well it left a kind of sticky residue, so while it probably works as a night moisturiser I wouldn’t use it in the day.
The texture is gelly, i found that the best way of getting it up from the tub wasnt to sweep my finger in it but tap my finger into it.
So far I can’t say much about the scent since I haven’t decided what I think of it yet, but there will be a more elaborate review when I’ve tried this more.

Having tried only this product from the Vitamin E series makes me want to try more of them, Facial wash, hand treatment and body butter, to mention some.

TheBodyShop – Christmas Scents

The Body Shops Christmas scents are in store now and with the coupons I got with the last print they sent out I took the chance to get some of the seasons products. Here’s what I got.

I got things from Vanilla Bliss and Cranberry Joy

Vanilla Bliss
Shower Gel – 60 ml
Body Butter – 50 ml
Bath Crystals – 300 g
Bath Lily

I’m not usually a fan of vanilla scented products, they usually smell so much that I get a headache. This one however was really mild when smelled it in the store so I took a chance and bought a small kit with shower gel and Body Butter and also bought the bath crystals.
I liked the scent, it smells vanilla but not to strong. Just enough.

I actually tried these tonight right before writing this post. My bath lasted for about 5 minutes though, so I’ll write about the feeling of the bath crystals when I tried them more. But the shower gel and body butter was as nice as usually.

Cranberry Joy

Bar Soap – 40 g
Body Butter – 50 ml
Shower Gel – 250 ml
Body Polish – 75 ml

The first thing I have to say is that I love the packaging this year. That snowcovered cranberry is simple and beautiful.
I like the scent of these in the bottle, tub and tube. Haven’t tried them yet, so I’ll update when I do. But the scent is sharp and fruity. For me Cranberry isn’t a part of christmas, but the scent is wonderful. I really look forward to trying these. Don’t think I’ll use the bar soap though. Usually don’t.

As to the christmas products they have a third range Ginger Sparkle, I don’t usually reach for ginger scented products mostly because my fiance don’t really like the scent, so I didn’t buy this one. I did however smell it and it smelled nice. I am however going to buy the christmas calendar and who knows, maybe there’ll be a sample of Ginger Sparkle in there.
I might buy a small kit of this to try if I have money left after buying christmas presents, food and everything else christmas’y.

But I’ll give you better reviews on Vanilla Bliss and Cranberry Joy when I tried them more.

Essie Really Red

As i mentioned yesterday I bought two new polishes.

Firstly we have a picture of the polishes

Licorice and Really Red

***

I painted my nails with really red today, the first thing i noticed was how wide the brush is.

The brush is about the same size as Isadora’s Nail polish brushes. Slightly bigger than O.P.I’s
And I must say, I’m not a huge fan of wide brushes. Usually because the only nail were I dont hit the skin outside the nail on is the thum. I think it’s just a matter of getting used to it. I have however always hated wide brushes when I’m painting my pinky.

Now over to the polish.

It’s like every other polish, maybe slightly runnier in the texture but not too runny.
It was pretty easy to paint on the nail and covered fine in two layers. I used three however.

Here’s the result

As a first impression I like this polish, but I’ll have to give it time too see how it stays.

Macadamia Natural Oil First Impression

As I said in the post Macadamia Natural Oil I was going to give you a first impression post on the product. So here it comes.

Since my hair isn’t that frizzy, my ends aren’t in bad shape and my hair is neither on the dry or the oily side I brought in outside help. From Jesus, oh sorry, I meant Jonas, my fiancé. His hair is frizzy, pretty dry and with insanely split ends.
Here are some photos.

Now I happen to love the small curls in his hair. I tend to play with them while watching movies os such.
On these pictures his hair isn’t brushed, that’s because if we pull my boar bristle brush through his hair at this point we’d have about 3-4 cm of dry fluff at the ends.

We used the same routine on our hair so the product reviews are my opinions while the pictures show what it did to his hair.

The products used are these.

Macadamia Rejuvenating Schampoo
Macadamia Deep Repair Masque
Macadamia Moisturizing Rinse
Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment
Macadamia Nourishing Leave In Cream

We started with the Rejuvenating Schampoo 2 times to get a nice lather, then the Deep Repair Masque was added together with some of the Healing Oil Treatment for extra care. The masque was left in the hair for 10 minutes and then thoroughly rinsed out before the conditioner was added and then rinsed out. Sadly I forgot to ask Jonas to rinse the conditioner out with cold water.

Then we waited for the hair to dry until it was damp before we added Nourishing Leave In Cream and Healing Oil Treatment, and then left to dry completely. After the hair was dry we brushed through it, and here are the results on Jonas’ hair.

It’s much less frizzy and it didn’t feel as dry. To my dissapointment his curls were straighter than I’d like, (and I have absolutely no hope of getting to try the Macadamia Curl Cream on him) but the quality and looks of the hair was much better than before. The split ends are still there, but the only way to get rid of split ends is to cut the hair, so that was expected.
Now we’ll move on to the first impression review.

***

Overall my first impression of these products is really good. I’m going to start with some overall pros and cons.

Pros

The Smell – All of these products smell absolutely wonderful, some might say that the scent is a bit to girly, for example when my fiancé added the masque to his hair he exclaimed “now the girly smells begin“. I however think that men can use girly hairproducs. Usually there aren’t that many hair care products for men that acctually are good. To get the products that do work for hair the men has to step out of their comfort zone of using axe shower gel as a schampoo to get that manly smell.

The packaging – I think that these green and brown packaging with the lighter brown pattern is simply beautiful

UV Protection – The Moisturizin Rinse, Healing Oil Treatment, Healing Spray Oil, Nourishing Leave In Cream and Reviving Curl Cream contains UV-Protection which I found great.

Color safe – The Rejuvenating Schampoo and Moisturizing rinse is color safe. Having colored my hair for at least 8 years this is great for me.

Cons

Heat Protection – I cant find anywhere if the Healing Oil Treatment, Healing Spray Oil, Nourishing Leave In Cream or Reviving Curl Cream Contains Heat Protection. So I’m going to assume that they don’t. I don’t use heat styling tools or a hair dryer that often. But this is still a huge con for me. But It’s also the only con I have right now.

Macadamia Rejuvenating Schampoo
Since this schampo is sulfate free I thought it would be hard to get a lather from it since sulfates usually are the reson behind lather in schampoos. But it was really quite easy to get a satisfactory lather. I felt it cleansed my hair well but I did need to wash my hair two times, however, I always do that. I think that the easiest way to aplly this shampoo is to first take a small amount for the scalp and then take a small amount for the lenghts. It feels like i have to use less product when I do it that way and I didn’t need much product at all, my hair did however feel a little coarse after using this schampoo, so for me a conditioning agent is required. I always condition after schamopoing anyway, so not really a problem

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque
I am completely sold on this one after just one use, the moment thiss masque touched my hair I felt it smoothen and when i rinsed it out my hair just washed around my face and over my shoulders like a soft silky curtain of smoothness.  And a little goes a long way, i didn’t need much of this mask to cover all my hair.

Macadamia Mousturizing Rinse
After using the Deep Repair Masque a conditioner wasn’t really necessary but since it helps close the hair I always use it. I have however washed twice with these products so I’ve used the conditioner without the masque to. It’s good as a conditioner, can’t say much more right now. If you apply it right you dont need much of this either, which is good because it was a living hell to get this out of the bottle. I ended up screwing the cap of.

Macadamia Nourishing Leave In Creamand Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment
Since I have only used these with each other I can’t really give a opinion on how they are separetly. But I can say what I think of the together.
I have used these twice on myself, the first time I took too much product and my hair turned out a little oily (This is the reason I’ve washed my hair twice before this review). The second time however I took a good amount. I started with a little of the Nourishing Leave In Cream and worked that through the hair with my fingers and then I combed through with the Macadamia Oil Infused Comb to distribute the product. After I’d done that I took a little of the Healing Oil Treatment and did the same thing with that. The oil feels pretty thick and I was surprised at how easy it was to work it into the hair. A huge con on the oils bottle is the pump, as you can see on the picture earlier in this post the pump is pretty high above the bottle when it’s opened. This isn’t a problem right now, but if I want to bring it with me somewhere I’m going to have to pump out some of the oil to be able to twist this shut. I prefer the pumt bottles where the pump stays in one place and snaps shut in one direction and open in the other, so you don’t have to pump out a amount of product to shut the bottle(i.e. The Body Shops Hand Wash bottles ). Those kind of pumps can easily open by themself though, but I still prefer them.

Well I think that was all I had to say about these now.
More posts will be up about these.
