First impression: Vitimin E Sink In Moisture Mask

In my last post I mentioned some things I got/bought for my birthday.
I’ve tried some of them and here is a firts impression of the Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask from The Body Shop

vitamin e mask
P
icture from The Body Shop’s Homepage

The description says to Put on a thin layer, leave on for about 10 minutes and then just wipe of the excess. So when I tried this, that’s what I did, except I left it on for about 20 minutes.

My first thought instantly was “wow, my skin is really smooth now”. Before using this I had some dry and even some flaky parts on my face, but after only one use those were gone, even now  4 days later they haven’t returned. So I’ll definetly use this more to see if it works in the long run. I’m also thinking of using it as an overnight mask, putting it on in the evening and then sleeping on my back with this on. Since it is a sink in mask I don’t really believe you can leave it on for too long.

I did notice that while it sunk in well it left a kind of sticky residue, so while it probably works as a night moisturiser I wouldn’t use it in the day.
The texture is gelly, i found that the best way of getting it up from the tub wasnt to sweep my finger in it but tap my finger into it.
So far I can’t say much about the scent since I haven’t decided what I think of it yet, but there will be a more elaborate review when I’ve tried this more.

Having tried only this product from the Vitamin E series makes me want to try more of them, Facial wash, hand treatment and body butter, to mention some.

Nivea in-shower body lotion

image

I got the nivea in-shower body lotion today.
I think the idea of this is great so I’ve wanted to try it for a while. There are two different lotions, I got the one for normal skin, there’s also one for dry skin.

You use it after your shower gel and then rinse it off, if you’re in a hurry this is great since you don’t have to wait for a lotion to sink in before going on with your day.

I’ve used it once, but my skin feels smoother than it usually is right after a shower. I’ll keep using it and post a bigger review.
I already feel that now in the winter this is not enough to properly moisture my skin, but I’ll combine this with moisturising a few evenings.

Home Spa! Home Spa!

Now when Fall is here I’m starting to feel a bit gloomy, I think I might have seasonal depression, because this happens every year.
So what better way to get that chill out of your bones and get relaxed than indulge in a home spa?

In this post I’m going to include how I do my Home Spa days, but also how to satisfy all five senses during the experience.

I prefer having a bathtub available. If my fiancé ever suggests getting rid of our bathtub he’s crazy!

Pre-Spa day/night

Plan your spa day.
(this is prefferably done the day before)

Take a shower
Wash your hair and body the day before so you can focus on pampering yourself with treatments on the actual day.

Clean your bathtub/shower.

Scrub your tub and/or shower so they are clean and nice for your spa day.
Soaking in a tub that feels dirty is not a nice experience, and watching dirt on the shower walls are disturbing to the calm.

Remove clutter from the areas you’re going to use.
It’s easier to relax if the bathroom, bedroom, livingroom or other areas you’ll use are’nt cluttered.

Make sure you have everything you need/want.
Discovering in the middle of your spa night that you’re missing a drink, a snack, a product or anything else you’s want can annoying. Depending on what your missing it can also ruin your spa experience

Make sure you get the time you need for yourself.
If you have kids, see if you can find a babysitter.
See if your partner can leave the appartment/house or just make sure not to disturb you.
Turn of your cellphone, or at least put it on silent.

Remember, this day/night is for your relaxation.

Now on to the preparations you can do the same day

Prepare what your going to use/need
Take out the shower gel, body scrub, facial masks, hair treatments, a bath robe and other products you might want to use during the day.
This is so you won’t have to run all around your home in search for them.

Prepare snacks
Fresh fruit, wine, chocolate, anything you might want to eat or drink

Now on to the actual spa day.

Decide yourself what treatments you want to give yourself. This is the ones I usually do.

A relaxing Bath
Hair Treatment
Facial Mask
Body Scrub
Manicure
Pedicure
Massage*                       *If my fiancé feels nice that day

Relaxing Bath
-Start by drawing a nice relaxing bath.
-Light some candles in your clean, clutterfree bathroom
-Start some relaxing music
-Put some nice scented oil, bath salt or bath foam in the water. Or even coconut milk, helps smoothen the skin really well.
-Slobber a hair treatment on your hair and leave it on while you soak.
-Massage a facial mask on your face and leave on while you soak.

Soak for at least half an hour, nibbling on some snacks or sipping on a drink.

When done soaking, let the water out, start the shower and rinse the treatments of your hair and face, then take a nice body scrub and scrub your entire body. Then wash your body and dry off. Then put on your bathrobe and move on to the next part.

If you don’t have a shower, put the mask and treatment in and just listen to music or read a book by candlelight. Then take a nice long shower.

Pedicure
Soak your feet in a footbath, preferably with a foot salt for 5-10 minutes while listening to music, reading och wathing a movie.
take your feet out of the water and scrub them with a footfile and/or a foot scrub before returning them to the water for a little longer.
Dry your feet and massage in a foot lotion. Decide yourself how much you massage it in, but remember that the feet carries the rest of you the entire day, so they deserve some attention.
Take a cuticle pusher and push back the cuticles on your toes and massage in a cuticle oil and a cuticle cream, let that sink in, there’s no need to rush.
If you feel like it, paint your toenails or just buff them up with a shine file. Remember to use a base and top coat to make the polish last longer.
When you’re done painting just put your feet up end relax.

Manicure
File and shape your nails to a length and shape you feel comfortable with, then soak your fingers in some soapy or milky water.
Wash the soap of your hands and dry them on a nice towel before massaging in a hand cream.
Push back your soft cuticles and thoroughly massage in a cuticle oil and a cuticle cream on each nail.
Choose a happy nail polish and paint your nails, or just use a shine file to get a nice shine on them.

Massage
This is the slightly tricky part. You can give yourself a massage but it is not as nice as getting one from someone else.
Sometimes my fiancé is nice when I have my spa days and gives me a massage after I’m done, either full body or just back and shoulders. Otherwise I just massage my shoulders a little by myself.

After you’re done with all your treatments, don’t rush back to your everyday life. Put on a movie or read a book and just keep relaxing.
I myself prefer reading a book since I think that’s more relaxing than something including a screen.

So, how do we indulge all the senses while doing this?
Sight
De-cluttering the areas your going to use
Lighting candles to create a nice enviroment

Having tidy areas and nice lighting helps the brain relax since you wont be blinded bu strong lights ore thinking that the room needs to be cleaned
Hearing
Relaxing music.

Relaxing music during the treatments, especially the bath helps your mind relax because it won’t wander away and start thinking about what to make for dinner the next day or when the laundryroom might be free.
My personal favourite to listen to during spa days is Enya

Smell
Scented candles, bath oils or the products you use.

Relaxing smells like lavender or lemongrass helps with relaxation.
If you prefer you can also use a fruity smell like peach or if you want something more luxurious try chocolate scented products.

Touch
Warmth
Nice feeling products
Massage

The warm water loosens knots and tension to relax.
Nice feeling products feels luxurious.
The massage is relaxing, loosens knots (duh!) and human comtact makes us feel good.

Taste
Food
Drink

If you eat or drink something you like it makes you feel good because of hormons being released. But choose something light, don’t eat an entire pizza since you might fall into food coma. Some of my favorites are:

FoodI have three favourites
Fruit – It’s sweet, filled with vitamins and antioxidants
Chocolate – Does this really need an explenation, I mean, it’s chocolate.!
Brie Cheese – Brie Cheese and crackers are delicious and I don’t eat it so often so it’s more of a treat when I do.

Drink – Three choices here to
Water – Hydrating and I usually mix it with some citrusfruit.
Chai-Latté – I really enyoy my chai-lattés, so I indulge sometimes.
Wine – Just as the chocolate, no real explanation, it’s wine!

Now as an ending I’m going to show some of my favorite products to use for my spa nights.

DSCN1110

Hair treatments
Macadamia Deep Repair Mask
Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment

My alltime favourites, The Macadamia one doesn’t smell as chemical as the Lee Stafford one though, so it’s the favourite.

DSCN1107

Facial masks
TBS Warming Mineral Mask
TBS Vitamin E Sink In Mask

The Warming Mineral Mask is Deep Cleansing and the Vitamin E one is Moisturising

DSCN1097       DSCN1112

TBS Vinyard Peach Shower Gel, Body Lotion and Body Scrub
TBS Chocomania Shower Cream, Body Butter and Body Scrub

These are the only series I have Shower Gel, Body Scrub and Lotion from, so these are the ones I usually use. I like having the same scent on all the products.
I opt for the chocolate one when I feel like a more luxurious night, but the Vinyard Peach Shower Gel works better as a bubble bath than the Chocomania Shower Cream ;P

DSC_0706

Shemen Amour Mineral Foot Cream

This cream is divine.

DSC_0696

TBS Almond, Rose and Hemp Hand butter

Usually use the Almond one as a Cuticle Cream and the Rose one as a Hand Cream

Well, this turned out to be a pretty long post, but I hope its helpfull

New products from my birthday.

Last friday was my birthday, I turned 21.

My boyfriends father and his girlfriend gave me a sort of goodiebag. It contained lots of nice little products, and what they referred to as “the real gift” – a giftcard to The Body Shop.
Here I have some pictures of the things from the bag and the products I bought with the giftcard (and some extra money)

I’ll start with the goodiebag. When I got the bag and started looking at the things, she said “I thought you needed something to blog about.”

They had an offer so when I bought the lotion and scrub I got a free Shower Gel.

Satsuma Shower Gel – I actually got this when I bought a Chocomania Scrub and Body Butter, but I included it here anyway.
Vitamin E Sink in moisture mask – I’ve needed a Moisture Mask for sooo long, so I felt that when it’s soon winter I had to get one.
A facial massager.
They also gave me a free perfume sample – White Musk, Smoky Rose

Aside from theese products I’ve also bought a chocomania scrub and body butter recently, but I forgot to take pictures of those.

Tonight I’m having a relaxing night at home so I’ll try a few of these products, like the vinyard peach ones, the hair products and the moisture mask and facial massager. But I will be back with pictures and reviews of all of these.

Window 8 – 2014

image

In window 8 there was…

image

Two “face satchels”

One for the Vitamin E Sink-in Moisture Mask. That I’ve made a first impression post about here.

And one for the Vitamin C Microdermabrasion. I actually bought a full sized of this one a little while ago, will post that entire haul soon.

Last year when I got a similar window, I was slightly irritated, this year I know that it’s because the extra money is needed for another window. Which is exciting.

I always save these satchels, I literally have a pile of face satchels. They’re great to have handy if I need to go away for a while, since I then won’t have to bring entire jars/tubs/tubes with me

Window 14 – 2013

image

The fourteenth window gave me…
image

2 facial mask satchels.
One Vitamin E sink-in moisture mask
One Vitamin C Microdermabrasion.
I also got a coupon for 20% off on a full sized one.

I already have the vitamin E one and I really like it.
I’ve always wanted to try products from the Vitamin C series. So I’m looking forward to that.

Peekaboo

Wow… I have fallen of the face of the blog world.

I know I’m not very active, and to be honest, that’s because I just haven’t been that commited to either the blog or myself resently. Usually I just come home from my studies, sink down in the couch and rest until I make dinner and then watch tv until I go to bed. I barely do my skincare routine either. But I’m planning to change that.

I’m interested in trying out a BB-Cream, is there anyone who has one to recomend? I would like to buy a few and do a comparision review, but I’m not sure if  I can spare money for that. I recently discovered that I have bruxism and need an acrylic splint that costs way more than I can afford.

Also I have no ideas for post so any wishes on that is welcome to.

Window Number 1 – 2012

And behind the first window we have

Lucka 01, stängd

Sweet Lemon Hand Cleansing Gel – 60 ml

Lucka 02 Öppen

The product smells like Lemon and Alcohol and has the feeling of any hand cleansing gel I’ve tried.
When it dries however the alcohol scent is gone, leaving the Body Shops classic Sweet Lemon scent behind.

I’ve had one of these in strawberry since the summer.
I think it’s a good hand cleansing gel for when you don’t have access to a sink.

For the scent the Lemon one smells more alcohol than the strawberry one, b ut neither of them leaves the scent of alcohol after it dries.

I love having one of these in my bag.

Winter is Coming – Hand Guide

Picture from Here

I’m continuing my Winter is coming Series with a hand guide.
So here are a few tips on how to take best care of your hands and nails, aswell as some product tips.
Just like the lip post I’ll start with care and then products. But I’ll put them in the same post this time.

Your hands are really exposed to weather, and with smartphones the gloves you use during cold months are taken of all to often because of the touchscreens. So it’s important to take care of your hands. It’s important to take care of the entire body, but hey, this is a hand post.

Care

1. Moisturize
The biggest problem during winter is that your hands get dry. some people get so dry that they even get cracked skin and skin that flakes off.
So it’s important to keep your hands moisturized.
I usually have two moisturizers, one thicker that I use in the evening and one “normal” if I need more during the days.
But don’t overdo it. Don’t moisturize after every wash. Moisturize when you feel that it’s needed. If you over moisturize the skin on yor hands gets used to it and might get even drier.

2. Soap Free Cleanser
Soap is drying for your hand, so invest in a hand wash thats soap free and caring/moisturizing.

3. Dont Forget The Nails
Your nails also need moisture, a good citicle oil or cream can take care of that.

4. Cover
When your outside. Make sure to wear gloves to protect from the cold and the wind.

5.  Nighttime
The nighhours are perfect for extra moisturizing. Get a thicker moisturizer, coat your hands with it and put on a pair of thin cotton gloves to lock the moisturizer onto your hands instead of it going all over your sheets. if you want you can also use plastic gloves or bags.

Products

Moisturizer

The Body ShopWild Rose Hand Cream
The Body Shop –  Almond Hand & Nail Cream
The Body Shop  –Hemp Hand Protector

All Of Them
They all come in aluminium tubes that are easy to carry with you and easy to use. All of them sinks into the skin fast and they are really moisturizing

Pros
Easily absorbed
Nice Packaging
Moisturizes well
Feels really nice on the skin.
A little goes a really long way.

Cons
The first time you open the tube the pressure can push out more product than needed.
The tube can get soggy if you’re not careful.

The Body ShopWild Rose Hand Cream
This one is for Mature skin and can helpagainst color-changes in the skin. It smells like roses but the scent is pretty strong. I dont mind but it’s worth mentioning.

Pros
Smells good.

Cons
Can smell a bit to strong.

The Body Shop –  Almond Hand and Nail Cream
This one is for all skin types. It has a nice scent that’s pretty discreet. I’d recomend this one if you need one for a workplace or such. This one also cares for your nails so you
can massage this on your cuticles to.

Pros
Cares for both Nails and Hands
Smells less than the rose one but still nice

Cons
I don’t know if this is just me, but I feel this one is oilier than the rest so it feels wetter on the hands.

The Body Shop  –Hemp Hand Protector
This one is for dry skin and it’s more moisturizing that the other two. The scent however is not nice, I can’t really eplain it, I just don’t like it. Because of that I rarely use this one.

Pros
Extra moisturizing

Cons
The scent.

DependHandcream Day
Depend – Handcream Night

These are cheaper than The Body Shop Creams but works really good to. The scent is easiest described as handcream and is pretty discreet. I don’t usually like depends products, but I got a sample of the daycream and found it nice, so when I could buy the daycream and get the nightcream for free, I did.

Pros
Moisturizing
Smells discreet but still nice
Feels nice
Quickly absorbed (daycream)

Cons
The Packaging. These kind of tubes are nice but these get really suggy with product.

The Body ShopWild Rose Nourishing Hand Butter
The Body Shop –  Almond Hand & Nail Butter
The Body Shop  –Hemp Intenseive Hand Butter

All Of Them
They all come in tubs. I think the packaging is nice and they are easy to handle. These are more moisturizing than the Hand Creams so I usually use these when I’m in need of more moisture, and i use one of these at night. Wich one depends on what I feel like and how my hands feel. The Almond one is always a part of my manicure routine though. These linger on the skin for a while so they are not suitable if your in a hurry.

Pros
Nice Packaging
Moisturizes well
Feels really nice on the skin. (even more than the creams
A little goes a really long way.
Easy tubs to open/close.

Cons
As always with tubs, they can get disgusting since dust, hair and other things can stick to the creams when the lid is off

The Body ShopWild Rose Nourishing Hand Butter
This one as well as the cream is for Mature skin and can help against color-changes in the skin. It smells like the hand cream, maybe slightly stronger.

Pros
Smells good.

Cons
Can smell a bit to strong.

The Body Shop –  Almond Hand and Nail Butter
This one is for all skin types. It smells like the Cream and also treats the citicles and nails as well as the hands.

Pros
Cares for both Nails and Hands
Smells less than the rose one but still nice

Cons
I think this ine can feel to runny somtimes, depending on the temperature in the room

The Body Shop  –Hemp Intensive Hand Butter
As well as the cream it’s for dry skin and is more moisturizing than the others. But it still has that same smell. I usually use this one as a night treatment once a week.

Pros
Extra moisturizing

Cons
The scent.

Cleanser

The Body Shop Wild Rose Caring Hand Wash
The Body Shop  Almond Conditioning Hand Wash

Not much to say about these individually, They smell like the other products from the same range, slightly weaker rose scent.
These work really good, they lather nicely and feel caring. I love the twist packaging though, you don’t have to pump out products to close the pumps, you just twist.

Pros
Soap Free
Cleans well
Feels Caring
Smells good.

Cons
Don’t have any

Nails

Rosebud Perfume Co – Rosebud Salve
Depend Avocado Cuticle Oil

And Lastly products for the nails.

Rosebud Perfume Co – Rosebud Salve
I normally use this as a lip balm, but I tried it on my cuticles and its nice. i only use ut as a touch up if I’m in a hurry though.

Pros
Smells nice, like Roses
If massaged in it’s not to greasy.
An okay moisturizer
The packaging looks nice

Cons
The tub can be pretty hard to open, espescially with cold hands, and it can get really disgusting.

Depend Avocado Nail Oil
Again a Depend product I like. But I’m still looking for other Cuticle Oils. This comes in a small glas bottle with a dropper in it for easy application. I try using this daily, but normally I only use it one to three times a week. I don’t take the time to massage this in every day since I prefer to massage for a minute on each finger and then massage a cream for a minute on each finger so the products sinks in well.. Sure it’s a total of around 25 minutes each day. But I have a hard time taking the time for it.
But massaging a nail oil on is a great way to care for your nail since it also makes the growing nail stronger. It takes a little while to absorb, but if you massage every finger with the oil and then a cream for a minute each you can just wipe the residue off.

Pros
Easy to apply
A faint neutral scent

Cons
Can rub of on everything if you do something while your nails are greasy.

Well that concludes the Hand Post
